Style Cubby - Fashion and Lifestyle Blog Based in New England: J. Crew Staples

J. Crew Staples

If I could only shop one brand for the rest of my life, it would most likely be J. Crew. Over the years I have collected quite a few pieces, in many different colors, which I consider my "J. Crew Staples". These are items that are reoccurring in most every season and only varying in color/pattern. To me, they are classic pieces that I know I will have in my wardrobe until they physically wear out.

Jackie Cardigan - This is a classic, simple, cardigan which can be styled for almost any occasion. Pair with a silk tank and pencil skirt to make it office appropriate, with a simple T-shirt and jeans for a casual day look, or throw over a dress on a cool summer night. I have this cardigan in many different colors and constantly find myself reaching for it on a weekly basis.

Perfect-fit Tank - I own this tank top in an embarrassing amount of colors, each season new colors come out and I cannot resist giving in to the new options. Since it is a very fitted tank, it can be layered in multiple different ways or even worn on it's own in the warmer months. I wear this tank top paired with shorts or tucked into skirts in the summer and in the winter I wear it as a layering piece.

3" Chino Short - I am very picky about the way shorts fit, I like them to be a little bigger on the waist and because I have slightly longer legs, the length is also crucial. Too long and I feel like I age myself and too short I feel like a wannabe 14 year old but these 3" shorts are the perfect rise for my legs. Besides jean shorts, every single pair of shorts I own are 3" Chino Shorts from J. Crew. They come in all sorts of fun colors and patterns so they make perfect sense, right?

Minnie Pant - When I have to wear dress pants, these are what I gravitate towards. I love the structured, straight leg look as opposed to the wide leg trouser. I feel these are more youthful and fun! They are the only dress pants that I own (partly due to the fact that I hate pants) and they can easily be dressed up with a pair of pumps and a blazer or paired down with a silk blouse and flats.

Pearl Twisted Hammock Necklace - If there is one thing I am certain on it's that pearls will never go out of style. I have had this necklace for a couple years now and can pair it with most any outfit. This necklace looks and feels of much higher quality and compares to some of the vintage pearl necklaces of my grandmother's that I am constantly lusting over.

The best part about any items from J. Crew is that I never buy them at full price. They are always having sales online and in store so as long as you keep your eye out, you can easily save on all the products listed above!
